Head Coach Introduction
Baseball Update and news
The 2016 Spring season was a move in the right direction in regards to changing our culture and putting a few more notches in the Win column. Though not satisfied with our 7-12 record (6-10 in league), we were recognized many times by game officials, opposing coaches and parents for the turn around and competitiveness of our program. Having lost 3 games by 1 run and another in extra innings has us feeling that 2017 can produce a bid for playoff baseball, something that has not happen at South in countless years. Seniors Ryan Rundles and Colin Saiz received DPL honorable mention status and represented South at the Senior All-State game held at Double Angel baseball complex and put on by the Colorado Dugout Club. I was fortunate enough to be asked to help Coach that team with Denver North head coach Ernesto Marquez (see pics below). Other notable accomplishments … Sophomore Josh Martinez also received honorable mention All league honors and Junior Casey Seppelt was selected 1st Team All DPL.
The 2016 Summer season also brought great promise to our future as we competed in the RBI program. The young Rebels made up of under classmen including 13 incoming freshman had a great regular season taking second in their division and losing in the semi finals of the playoffs to eventual RBI champ JFK 14-10. This team experienced a 6 game winning streak and opened their summer season with a victory over East. (see pics below)
Rebel baseball continues to grow in numbers as we are looking at a possible 32 players this coming spring season, up from 21 that played last year. Our hope is to have three teams by the Spring 2018 season. This will provide more opportunity and only strengthen our program for the coming years.
As always my line of communication is always open … email firstname.lastname@example.org with any inquiries.
Our on field goal is to be Denver Prep League champion and participate in the State tournament every year. Though our main goal is to always make sure our players are their absolute best in the classroom and in their community
